Cookie Fridays : Red velvet cookies with cream cheese frosting

Valentine’s Day is next week. {Yeah ! } So,  I wanted to make something a little special today. Since, I’m a lover of anything red velvet, and  I love making these red beauties. Hope you will enjoy them to.



  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Icing

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Red sugar sprinkles

Preheat oven at 350

In a small bowl, sift your flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda. Set aside.Cream butter with white and brown sugars and mix.
Add eggs, vanilla and red food coloring and beat until light and fluffy.
Stir in flour mixture and beat on medium for 1 minute until smooth.
Form dough into 1-1/2 inch balls and place them on the cookie sheets space. { leave space between cookies}These cookies will spread and flatten.
Bake  cookies for 10-12 minutes.
Let the cookies cool. And set aside while you make the topping.
Beat the cream cheese and butter on high with mixer until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and powdered sugar and whip for 3 minutes.
When the cookies are cool, generously cover them with a dollop of cream cheese frosting. Decorate with red sugar sprinkles.
