Double chocolate pound cake

3 slices of delicious chocolate pound cake

I’m a sports fan, basketball, football and baseball in that order. Sunday I had a bunch of friends over and watch the playoffs. 
Of coarse, we were cheering for the knicks and they let us down again. That’s o.k their not out of it like the lakers in the first round. {Lol}We had  this delicious chocolate pound cake and some beer to make us feel a little better.


Pan: loaf pans
Pre heat oven 350
Bake: 1 hour
Overall time: 1hr 45mins- 2hr 15mins


Chocolate pound cake
1 cup of unsalted butter
1/2 cup of dutch- process cocoa powder
1/2 cup of cacao special dark cocoa
3 cups of sugar 
5 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
2 3/4 cups of flour
3/4 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup of buttermilk
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

1.Preheat oven at 350. Dust loaf pan with cocoa powder
2.In large bowl, add butter and sugar and blend with mixer.
cream together until light and fluffy and the volume has increased.
3.Add the eggs and yolk one at a time, beating after each addition.
4.In another bowl, whisk together the flour, both cocoa powder, salt
and baking powder.
5.Add dry ingredients alternatively with buttermilk to the butter and egg mixture ending with the flour. Stir in the vanilla and pour the into loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
6.let cake cool. serve how you like. I serve with a spoonful of cool whip cream cheese frosting and hot fudge sauce. YUM.
